Arsenal are set to hijack Liverpool’s move for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze.
That’s according to Transfermarketweb, who say that the Premier League club see the German international as an ideal signing for the Summer transfer window.
The futures of England internationals Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both of whom have been linked with a move to Anfield, are unclear and Gotze’s arrival at the Emirates would put them into further doubt.
Gotze has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Bayern side and is reportedly still set to move on from the Allianz Arena despite Pep Guardiola’s impending exit to Manchester City.
Carlo Ancelotti is set to take over as Bayern boss from the Spaniard and some reports claim that he has already informed Gotze that he is surplus to requirements.
Jurgen Klopp is reported to have put his former Borussia Dortmund man at the top of his Summer wanted list and it set to make a move – but Arsenal could be set to rival him.
