Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has reportedly launched a £19m bid to bring Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to Anfield for next season.
Former Borussia Monchengladbach stopper ter Stegen moved to the Camp Nou almost two years ago and has been unable to hold down a regular spot in the side.
Claudio Bravo, who arrived at the Spanish giants at the same time as the German, has been preferred by manager Luis Enrique in La Liga, which has restricted ter Stegen to cup appearances.
He has started just four league games this season, but has been the preferred choice when it has come to the Champions League – and he started the final against Juventus last season.
Manchester City’s incoming manager Pep Guardiola is also said to be monitoring the twenty-three year old as he looks to add more competition for Joe Hart next season.
While Klopp has recently handed Simon Mignolet a new five year deal – which suggests a show of faith in the faltering Belgian stopper.
ter Stegen is unlikely to want to be a number two going forward, so he could see the move to Anfield preferable to City as Mignolet would present less of a challenge compared to Hart.
