Real Madrid linked with move for Moreno

Klopp celebrates with Moreno after the victory against Rubin Kazan

Real Madrid are being linked with a move for Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno.

Spanish paper Marca is reporting that Rafa Benitez is looking to make the raid on Anfield in the January transfer window after Marcelo was injured.

Moreno has previously been linked with the ten times European Cup winners, but nothing has materialised of the supposed interest.

But his improved form for the Reds this season, particularly since Jürgen Klopp took over as manager, has reportedly alerted Real once again.

Wolfsburg’s Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez, Lyon’s French full-back Samuel Umtiti and Ludogorets’ Brazilian defender Natanael are also said to be under consideration by the Spanish giants.

All the non-EU spots in the Real squad have been filled, so a Spaniard would fit the bill – and Moreno is exactly that.

Moreno moved to Anfield in the Summer of 2014 for a fee of around £12m and had an up and down first season under Brendan Rodgers’ guidance.

He has been a better player this season and has cut down on the defensive errors that earned him criticism from some quarters in 2014/15.

It is unlikely that Klopp would sanction an exit for the defender.
