Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has said that he “got lucky” with the penalty shootout saves that helped see the Reds to victory last night.
Hungary international Bogdan, who moved to the club on a free transfer from Championship side Bolton Wanderers in the Summer, made three saves in the 3-2 shootout win over Carlisle United.
Brendan Rodgers’ side progressed after a 1-1 draw with the League Two club following extra-time.
Bogdan, who was poor for Derek Asamoah’s equaliser, became the Reds’ hero – but he has dismissed his heralding as a hero.
“There’s method in the madness.” he told Liverpoolfc.com
“Sometimes you guess right, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don’t. I guessed the right way and got lucky with three shots. Thankfully we went through.”
Bogdan went on to speak about Saturday’s game with Aston Villa – a must win for Rodgers’ side.
“All the games are massive.” he said.
“Every week in the Premier League there is no easy game.
“We have to concentrate on the next one, come in on Saturday, get the job done and win the game and move on.” he concluded.
