Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has put a big dent in any hopes Mario Balotelli may have of joining the Italian club.
Ferrero has criticised the wage demands of the Italian international after being linked with a move for the Liverpool striker all Summer.
“You can forget about Balotelli because it costs 10 million in salary and with 10 million I can get eight Balotelli.” he is quoted by Di Marzio.
Balotelli has reportedly been told to train alone at Melwood after being informed that he is not part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the new season.
Bologna are the latest Serie A club to be linked with a move for the forward, but they are believed to have been priced out by Liverpool’s £10m demand.
Balotelli endured a woeful first season at Anfield, scoring just once in the Premier League and four times in all competitions.
His exit looks certain, but it could run until deadline day.
