The Guardian are reporting that Rickie Lambert will complete a move to West Bromwich Albion in the next couple of days.
Lambert arrived at Anfield a year ago from Southampton to realise his dream of playing for his boyhood club.
But things didn’t work out for the England international as he managed just two Premier League goals for the club – neither of which came at Anfield.
And so he has been made available for transfer this Summer by Brendan Rodgers and has been linked with moves to Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Bournemouth and Norwich City.
He has also been touted as a possible target for former Southampton boss Mauricio Pocchettino of Spurs, but given his lack of game time at Anfield he is likely to favour a move to the Hawthorns.
And Baggies boss Tony Pulis is keen to take him to the Midlands club.
“Rickie is available. Liverpool have made that known. We’d be interested.” he said.
“It’s very important that we get players who will score goals and Rickie’s got a great goalscoring record.
“From what I can gather from people at Liverpool his fitness levels are very, very good and he is desperate to play football.
“He didn’t play last year so it’s like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if we did sign him. Just putting a bit of petrol in it and letting it run.” he finished.
Liverpool are looking to recoup as much of the £4m paid to Southampton as possible and no price has been agreed as yet.
