Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez has revealed that Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger was key in his decision to choose the London side over Liverpool.
The Reds wanted to make the Chile international part of the deal that saw Luis Suarez move from Anfield to the Camp Nou.
But Arsenal beat off the competition from Liverpool and signed the former Udinese man for a fee of £35m and he has been a key part of their third place finish this season.
The twenty six year old has scored twenty-four goals as the Gunners secured Champions League football for next season, while Liverpool ended up sixth.
And Sanchez has said that Wenger was a key factor in his decision.
“He’s a legend – an Arsenal legend.” he told BT Sport.
“You learn from him everyday. Sometimes we discuss about things like I would like to train more and he doesn’t let me! But he definitely looks after me.
“The reason why I moved to Arsenal is because there were a group of young players with the ambition to achieve things.
“I thought that Arsenal was the perfect club for me, the perfect club to win titles and compete in every competition.” he finished.
