Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has been linked with a surprise move to Spanish giants Barcelona at the end of the season.
Johnson, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked with a switch to Italian side AS Roma of late and appeared to be close to agreeing a free transfer switch to the Serie A club.
But Spanish newspaper Sport are now reporting that he is interesting the La Liga leaders as a potential replacement for Brazilian right-back Dani Alves, who is also out of contract at the end of the season – and is being linked with a move to England.
Alves is believed to favour a move to France to play for Paris Saint Germain, however, and that will leave Barcelona short of right-sided defenders.
The Catalan club have been banned from making any new signings until next year, but they can sign players in the Summer and register them in the squad from January.
