Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed the performance of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho against Premiership champions Manchester City and said that the youngster can get even better.
The twenty-two year old was instrumental in the Reds’ 2-1 win over City and capped off a brilliant personal display with a wonderful strike to win the match for this side.
And his latest excellent showing has impressed Rodgers, who brought Coutinho to the club from Inter Milan two years ago.
“Coutinho is a joy to watch.” Rodgers said.
“He’s a kid who has so much ahead of him in the game. He’s a sensational footballer.
“He is very selfless and very humble, always creates for others. He has wonderful body movement around the edge of the box.
“He’s a star in the Premier League but there are improvements he can make. He’s a young player, playing at club that adores him.
“We bought him in for £8.5m. It’s frightening to think what he’d be worth now.”
Coutinho has been praised by compatriot and Barcelona forward Neymar already this season and signed a new deal a few months ago – which seems very timely now.
