Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson hailed the “great character” of the side in the 2-1 win over Manchester City and wants them to “keep going” in the hunt for a top four spot.
The midfielder captained the side in the victory and led by example with a brilliant strike after eleven minutes to put the Reds ahead.
His partnership with Welshman Joe Allen was a big factor in the win as the pair shielded the back three well and provided support to the attacking trio of Raheem Sterling, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho in a fine all-round performance.
And Henderson, who is being touted as many as the successor to departing captain Steven Gerrard, was very pleased with the display that moves the team closer to the top four positions.
“We showed great character to stay in the game and Philippe won it for us with a fantastic goal. he said.
“We have to keep going now; every game is big.
“Burnley will be a tough game for us but this result will give us great confidence.” he concluded.
Liverpool face Burnley on Wednesday evening at Anfield and will be looking for another win to keep the pressure up on Arsenal and Manchester United.
