Reports this week claim that Liverpool are set to offer Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira a deal.
The German international is out of contract in the Summer and can agree terms with Liverpool now if he wants to make the move to Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers is on the look out for a new midfielder with captain Steven Gerrard, also out of contract in the Summer, on his way to join LA Galaxy in the US.
Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic was strongly linked with a Summer move to the club, but that rumour has now cooled and Khedira is leading the speculation of being Gerrard’s replacement.
Khedira has reportedly rejected a new deal with the European champions as he looks for a change of scene and more regular first-team football than he is currently getting at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with moves for the midfielder and competition could also come from his homeland with Bayern Munich and Schalke said to be monitoring the situation.
It would represent a real coup for Rodgers if he can persuade Khedira to make the move to Anfield. The World Cup winning midfielder has been a man in demand.
