Spanish champions Atletico Madrid have confirmed that their former striker Fernando Torres has made an emotional return to the Vicente Calderon.
The former Liverpool frotman joined AC Milan, where he has been on loan this season, from Chelsea on a permanent deal and was immediately sent to Atletico on an eighteen month loan switch.
Torres, who left Anfield for Chelsea in January 2011, left Stamford Bridge to join Milan on loan at the start of the season and was linked with a return to Merseyside after a slow start to life in Serie A. But he has now made a return to another of his former sides.
The Spaniard was a graduate of Atletico’s youth system and on to score 82 goals in 212 La Liga appearances for them. He went on to become club captain before making the move to Anfield in the Summer of 2007.
The move has ended rumours of a return to Anfield in January.
