Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi has stated his hopes of seeing Mario Balotelli making a return to the club in the January transfer window.
Balotelli, who joined Liverpool from Inter’s rivals AC Milan in August, has made a poor start to life at Anfield and has been linked with a move back to Serie A with Inter, Napoli and Sampdoria all mooted as potential destinations.
And with Roberto Mancini making a return to the managerial hotseat at the Nerazzurri, it has ramped up the talk of a return to the San Siro for the former Manchester City forward.
Inter’s Argentine frontman Icardi has said he would be delighted if Balotelli did make a switch back to Inter, who he left in the Summer of 2010, despite the added competition for places.
“If he comes here, we’d be delighted to welcome him. He’s a fantastic forward.” Icardi told Mediaset.
Brendan Rodgers recently said that he hadn’t considered the prospect of letting Balotelli leave Anfield in January, but he has also been honest in his assessment of the Italian’s suitability for the Liverpool side.
