Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly ready to give up on Mario Balotelli by letting the striker reunite with Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan – with West Brom’s Saido Berahino signed as his replacement.
The England under-21 international has been in fine form this season with eight Premiership strikes to his name – and that has caught the attention of both the Reds and rivals Tottenham.
With the poor form of Balotelli, as well as Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, in the absence of Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers is looking to add another striker to his squad to boost a top four challenge that has floundered.
Inter Milan appear the most likely team to snap up Balotelli after he has failed to find a single league goal for the Reds this season. With Mancini back in the managerial hotseat there, they look the best bet for an exit for the Italian striker.
Berahino has recently found himself on the bench for West Brom, which won’t have helped their cause in keeping him, and is reported to want to make a swift exit from the Hawthorns in January.
He was called up by Roy Hodgson for the internationals in November, but he failed to get off the bench and win his first cap for the country. A move to Anfield would surely push him further up the ladder, although he faces stern competition from Charlie Austin of QPR and Spurs’ Harry Kane, both of whom are in fine goalscoring form.
