Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is a doubt for the Champions League clash with Liverpool at the Bernabeu on Tuesday next week after being ruled out of their game on Saturday with Granada in La Liga.
The Welshman has missed Real’s last four games – including their 3-0 win at Anfield last week and he looks set to miss at least one more in his pursuit for fitness after suffering an injury on his lower back area.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is hoping that Bale can be fit as they pursue Barcelona in the Spanish title race as well as their aim to become the first club to successfully defend the Champions League since its inception twenty years ago.
“We are happy with what we are doing but all the matches are tests, past games are in the past. In Granada we want to keep our run going but you never know how things will turn out.” Ancelotti said.
Liverpool will be hoping the former Spurs man is missing as it will weaken an already world-class attack.
