Adam Lallana has travelled to Liverpool for a medical, ahead of a proposed £25million switch from Southampton, according to widespread reports.
The England international is set to become the second player to swap St Mary’s for Anfield this summer, after the Reds completed the signing of Rickie Lambert earlier this month.
Lallana was the subject of a £25million bid from Liverpool prior to the World Cup, with Southampton said to be holding out for a £30million offer as they are required to pay a 25% sell on fee to Lallana’s former club Bournemouth.
But it looks as if the deal has been pushed through following Lallana’s return from England’s latest World Cup disappointment, with a medical expected to take place on Friday ahead of the move.
Lallana had been linked with a move to Tottenham following their appointment of former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino, but Liverpool was understood to have always been the preference for the 26-year-old.
Brendan Rodgers had identified the attacking midfielder as a key transfer this summer, and Lallana now looks set to join Lambert and German under-21 midfielder Emre Can, in joining the Reds ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.
