Kolo Toure has insisted that he is still at his peak and is ready to play a big part in a ‘massive’ season for the club.
Brendan Rodgers moved quickly to bring the Ivorian in to help replace the loss of experience from Jamie Carragher’s retirement, with the defender moving on a Bosman free from Manchester City. The move was praised by many and a number of football sites like http://www.scores.co.uk have tipped him to be the signing of the summer.
Toure knows that he has big boots to fill, but he intends to give his all to cover the loss of one of the greatest defenders in Liverpool history.
“I’m still really hungry for more. I still think I can bring more in football.” he told LFCtv.
“This season is going to be massive for me. I will just try to show that I am still one of the best defenders. For a defender, 32 is nothing and physically I feel great.
“It’s hard because Jamie is Jamie. He was a fantastic player for Liverpool and in his time here, he was amazing.
“For me, I just like to try to do things my way and I will try to do what I can, but I think it’s going to be really difficult to replace him. I will give my all and it’s going to be a great challenge for me.”
